Thanks very much for letting a bedraggled crew of volunteers stop by your space, to help on this most interesting project in whatever ways we could. Though I wish I could have helped more, it was truly my pleasure to watch the finished production, my favorite scene involving the pimp and ho cats, a fellow sweeping, a feline gyrating. I thought that scene really captured a dark spirit of sorts...
And on a personal note, attending the Saturday performance was the first link in a chain of coincidence, stretching into the early morning hours, that eventually culminating in a well-earned black eye, which I currently sport with an even mix of pride and shame.

Just saw your Cats and fucking loved it, and I hate almost everything. (I've seen thousands of avant plays etc, from Foreman and the Wooster Group to NTUSA and Radiohole. Your sensibility may be the best since the days of NTUSA's "Garvey & Superpants" genius absurdity.)
I hope you'll consider bringing it back after the holiday break, b/c I wanted to talk a bunch of theater critics and other industry people into going to see it. (Ditto tons of my friends and others who do theater.)...

Camp taste draws on a mostly unacknowledged truth of taste: the most refined form of sexual attractiveness (as well as the most refined form of sexual pleasure) consists in going against the grain of one's sex. What is most beautiful in virile men is something feminine; what is most beautiful in feminine women is something masculine.
The whole point of Camp is to dethrone the serious. Camp is playful, anti-serious. More precisely, Camp involves a new, more complex relation to "the serious." One can be serious about the frivolous, frivolous about the serious.
The ultimate Camp statement: it's good because it's awful . . .

I finally went to see the Exit Art show and very much enjoyed your installation. I loved the way it mirrored the actual BP Gas station across the street and generated a citrus-fruitful dialogue between an increasingly energy-conscious art world and the savvy, image-conscious oil industry. Something is rotten on both sides of the street and real danger lurks both West and East of 475 Tenth Avenue.
